David Ansara

David Ansara is the Chief Executive Officer of the Free Market Foundation (FMF), a classical liberal think tank and policy advocacy organisation headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa. A well-known public speaker and commentator, David is a strong advocate for individual liberty and market-based approaches to public policy. Throughout his 16-year career, David has held various positions in think tanks, professional services firms, and trade associations. Prior to joining the FMF in January 2023, David served as the Executive Director of the Centre For Risk Analysis (CRA) at the South African Institute of Race Relations (IRR). David is an alumnus of the University of Cape Town where he completed his undergraduate studies and, in 2008, an MSocSc specialising in political studies. In 2024, David was elected as a member of UCT’s Council, the university’s highest governing body.
