Byron is a software developer working on the Liquid Bitcoin sidechain at Blockstream. He is a Bitcoin, privacy, and freedom technology advocate. He was born and raised in Johannesburg, and is the only Blockstreamer currently living in South Africa. Byron works on maintaining Elements, which is an open source software fork of the Bitcoin core software. Elements runs the Liquid sidechain, a Bitcoin layer 2 scaling solution, which provides confidential transactions, faster blocktimes, and much cheaper fees. When he's not hacking on Rust or C++ code, he's chilling with his wife and kids, or enjoying the outdoors on his mountain bike.
